Estate Planning Department Expansion

Miller & Law, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Thwing to our firm, as well as the expansion of our estate planning department!


Kevin received his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law, where he was the only member of his graduating class to receive Statements of Completion in Business Law, Estate Planning and Taxation. Kevin also received an LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, one of the nation’s highest ranked programs for the advanced study of tax law. Kevin is admitted to the Colorado and Oregon (currently inactive) bars and is a member of the Colorado and Arapahoe County Bar Associations. Prior to entering law school, Kevin was a high school teacher in Wisconsin and Louisiana. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys reading and spending time with his two young sons. He also admits to being a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.


Representative Experience


Estate and Wealth Preservation Planning:

In addition to providing basic estate planning services, Kevin has assisted individuals, families and closely-held business owners in connection with transitioning family-held businesses and real estate holdings to the next generation and minimizing or delaying payment of estate, income and gift taxes.


Probate and Trust Administration

Kevin has assisted heirs and beneficiaries in probating and administering the estates of decedents. online accounts and data that may be stored on one’s personal devices, online or in a “cloud.” The central concept behind digital estate planning is to integrate one’s digital assets with the rest of their estate plan. While such digital items may have limited financial value (e.g., domain names, digital music and books, important documents), items of sentimental value, such as photos of one’s grandchildren, may also be stored on such devices. Not only will such digital estate planning allow a person to determine who should get access to one’s digital assets, it can also prevent persons from gaining access to data that you do not want them to have.


Business and Corporate Law

Kevin has assisted individuals in the formation, governance and growth of closely-held businesses, including corporations, S corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships and general partnerships.


Mergers and Acquisitions

Kevin has assisted both buyers and sellers in stock and asset purchase transactions.


Tax Matters

Kevin has assisted individuals and entities in structuring transactions to minimize or delay income tax consequences associated with various types of business transactions. Kevin has also represented individuals and entities in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service, the Colorado Department of Revenue, the Oregon Department of Revenue and the City and County of Denver.
